Produced out of Pioneer Works in Red Hook, Broadcast is a magazine for the curious. Niche topics covered with unique perspectives in a thoughtful yet approachable way…my dream. Matte and with risograph (?) graphics, the editorial design makes this feel like a grown-up version community zine.
Great for: Forever Students, Trivial Pursuit Winners, and Typography Obsessives.
One of the absolute staples in the indie magazine world, McSweeny’s has been publishing their literary quarterly since 1998! A feat!
Not only do they set the standard for their editorial curation, but they consistently push the boundaries of editorial design. Past issues have been composed of ‘junk mail’, a auditory issue with a complete sound experience to match the physical and even a lunchbox.
This issue is a classic literary magazine with work by Shruti Swamy, Ashley Nelson Levy, Michael DeForge and Percival Everett among others.
